Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cover the root part of a bed without any gap by automatically following a change of a distance between moving bodies without reducing rigidity of the bed and approach of a moving body, in a machine tool provided on the bed with two moving bodies. SOLUTION: In a lathe provided movably axially of a main spindle on a flat bed 1 with a tailstock 4 and a check stand 5, a first cover 10 extending through the check stand 5 is mounted on the tailstock 4. Two second covers 11 and 12 extending through the tailstock 4 are mounted on the check stand 5. The first cover 10 and a part of the second covers 11 and 12 are overlapped with each other and a wiper is interposed at the overlapped part. A root part 8 of the slant bed 1 is covered by three covers 10, 11, and 12 between the tailstock 4 and the check stand 5 and chips are prevented from accumulation at the root part 8.
