Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for minimizing fluctuation in belt tension, in order to economically and effectively impart tension to a closed loop, such as a photosensitive body belt or an intermediate transfer belt or the parts of an endless belt in a copying device, and to provide an electrostatic copying device equipped with the mechanism. SOLUTION: The tension-imparting mechanism (8) includes a 1st assembly (210), including a movable member (202) attached in a crossing direction with the acting direction of the movable endless belt (10) and coming into contact with the belt and a 1st rotatable arm (212) which has a 1st end connected to the movable member and a 2nd end coupled with a 1st pivot (218), and a 2nd assembly (220) which includes a tension imparting means (221) and a 2nd rotatable arm (222) having a 1st end connected to the movable member and a 2nd end coupled with a 2nd pivot (228).
