Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that in case of being a beam type device on a platform adjoined to a converter, the position of the above must be changed depending on the construction of the converter, particularly in case of having other devices at the converter-opposing side. SOLUTION: In a device for moving a slag holding tool in a molten metal tapping hole through molten metal and slag layer, a multi-step extending/ shortening beam type device putting the slag holding tool in the molten metal tapping converter, is peculiarly constituted of a grooving rail hung from a supporting member above the platform adjoined to the converter, put in the horizontal direction toward the molten metal tapping converter and having a cylinder for tilting, an extending rail driven in the grooving rail, an inserting beam driven in the extending rail and the slag holding tool at the tip part of the inserting beam.
