NEW ITACONIC ACID ESTER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain new itaconic acid esters containing oxycarbonylmethyl ester groups as active ester groups and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The new itaconic acid esters containing oxycarbonylmethyl ester groups as active ester groups are represented by general formulas I-1 to I-3, (R1 and R3 are each independently hydrogen, a phenyl group or a 1-12C alkyl group; R2, R4 and R5 are each independently a monofunctional organic group). The methods for producing the itaconic acid esters comprise reacting an itaconate or an itaconic acid half ester salt with an α-halocarboxylic acid ester.
