Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small ink jet imaging apparatus in which printing speed can be increased significantly even when only one sheet is printed. SOLUTION: Print heads 2a, 2b ejecting ink in the opposite directions are mounted on the opposite sides of one carriage 1. While carrying a sheet to pass sequentially in front of the print heads 2a, 2b, printing is performed simultaneously in parallel by means of two print heads in at least a partial time band. Printing speed can thereby be increased significantly as compared with a case where printing is performed sequentially using only one print head. Since the sheet is carried to pass sequentially through two print heads, a plurality of sheet feed trays, carrying passages or sheet discharge trays are not required and the size can be reduced. Furthermore, mismatch of sheet discharging direction is prevented between odd page and even page.
