Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To get necessary braking force, by taking charge of only the braking torque, separating from a mechanism of taking charge of the mass of car body, and besides by reducing the number of parts for facilitating the manufacture and the maintenance work thereby enabling a retarder to be installed on every size of car body with simple structure. SOLUTION: Exciting poles 9 are arranged radially at one end of a housing 11 for accommodating a revolution accelerating mechanism 8, and also an eddy current generating rotor 10 consisting of a disc 10a and a cylinder 10b is coupled with the end on projection side of the high-speed rotary shaft 8f of the rotation accelerating mechanism 8 passed inside the exciting poles 9.
