IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that can accurately overlap object images obtained in the case of photographing a dark vision image and a clear image. SOLUTION: In the case of picking up an image of an object OBJ in the dark, the object image is formed on a photoelectric plane 2 via an image forming optical system 3 without insertion of parallel flat plates 4 and a solid- state image pickup element 1 picks up an electronic image of the object produced on the photoelectric plane 2. When picking up an image of the object OBJ under lighting, the parallel flat plates 4 are not inserted, the image of the object is formed on the solid-state image pickup element 1 and the solid-state image pickup element 1 picks up the object image. Since the parallel flat plates 4 forms the image of the object on the solid-state image pickup element 1 with the same magnification as that of the object image formed on the photoelectric plane 2, the size of the object image picked up under the lighting is the same as the size of the object image picked up in the dark and the images can accurately be overlapped.
