Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of attaining a satisfactorily enlarged image, even though the device is small in size, and also, capable of displaying an image of high luminance and high image quality. SOLUTION: The display device is provided with a display panel 201 with a prescribed effective display area, a display screen 801 with an image display area which is larger than the effective display area of the display panel, an image enlarging and forming optical system 401 which is arranged between the display panel and the display screen and for enlarging and forming the display image of the display panel on the display screen, and a housing 901 for integrally storing the display panel 201, the image enlarging and forming optical system 401 and the display screen 801. The inner surface of the housing 901 is formed to such a shape that light deviated from the optical path linking from the display panel 201 to the display screen 801 may be reflected at least twice and the light may reach the display screen 801.
