Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface modifying method which improves the pressure- sensitive adhesive properties of an emulsion type pressure-sensitive adhesive to a great extent by using the slight amount of an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This surface modifying method of an emulsion pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises coating an emulsion type pressure-sensitive adhesive on a substrate, drying the resulting layer to form an emulsion type pressure- sensitive adhesive layer, coating, on the surface of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, an organic solvent-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive having a functional group which reacts with a reactive functional group present in the pressure- sensitive adhesive layer to form a thin layer, and fixing the thin layer of the organic solvent-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive on the surface of the emulsion type pressure-sensitive adhesive layer by chemical reaction.
