METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DEINTERLACING VIDEO IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for deinterlacing by measuring motions in each lacking pixel, performing interpolation of a lacking line, and converting an interlace type field into a progressive type frame. SOLUTION: The interpolation used for luminance is determined by motion detection. When the motion is detected in an image, field base interpolation is used and when the motion of the image is not detected, frame interpolation is used. Concretely, the interpolation is determined by using a motion distance. The motion distance in the lacking pixel is defined by using a combination of the difference of a prescribed pixel luminance values. Then, undesirable noise is removed from the difference of the pixel luminance value. In order to fill the so-called 'hole' of the image, a space median filter is used.
