Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing fluorodopant-injected silica glass. SOLUTION: This method for producing the product, comprises a step for preparing a silica sol which comprises a tetraalkylammonium hydroxide and a di-, tri- or tetra-alkyl ammonium fluoride and has a pH value of about 10 to about 14, a step for adding a gelling agent to the sol to gel the sol, a step for casting or extruding the gel to form a gel-like article, and a step for drying, thermally treating and calcining the gel-like article. The fluorine-containing compound is preferably tetramethylammonium fluoride. The product obtained by the liquid phase doping method scarcely loses the fluorine, even when the product is subjected to a subsequent heating treatment.
