Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device capable of applying a coating liquid with a required thickness even if the travelling speed of a base material W is increased. SOLUTION: The back surface of a base material W is coated with the coating liquid by travelling the base material W at a basic travelling speed at first and increasing the liquid level of an overflow tank 52 to raise the liquid level of a liquid retaining vessel 24 and consequently increasing the travelling speed gradually from the basic speed.
