Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM communication system where a network accommodates terminals of a form for communication from each local terminal to a single host terminal optionally. SOLUTION: In the case that any of the local terminals 4-1-4-n assembles data into AAL1 cells and the cells are transmitted to the host terminal 10 via switch configuration sections 24-2-n and a center switch configuration section 1, whether or not the other local terminals use a transmission channel is discriminated on the basis of identifier information sent from the center switch configuration section 1 and the transmission of the cells is attained only when it is discriminated that the other local terminals do not use the transmission channel.
