Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of joining for different kinds of metals by a laser beam, by which different kinds of metals are strongly and surely lap- welded without producing substantially fragile layer of a compound. SOLUTION: A first metallic member 1 and a second metallic member 2 which have different components from each other are lapped and restricted, the surface of the first metallic member 1 is irradiated with a laser beam in a manner that the focus 15 of the laser beam comes at a point just above the surface of the first metallic member so that the first metallic member 1 is completely melted in the direction of the depth by the thermal energy radiated from the side of the first metallic member 1, and an alloy layer is formed mainly by a solid-liquid phase diffusion at the boundary between the molten metal and the second metallic member 2.
