SPECIFIC GENE EXPRESSION PROMOTER FOR PLANT GUARD CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expression cassette and a plasmid that can surely express the specific gene of the plant guard cells but exactly inhibits the expression in the mesophyll cells and the epidermal cells; and provide not only a method of producing gene-conversed plant cells including the sequence of the expression cassette, but also a method of producing the geneconversed plant by using the plasmid including the expression cassette. SOLUTION: The objective plasmid is constituted with the base sequence represented by the sequence No. 1 (cf. the specification) in which arbitrary bases may be deleted, inserted or substituted as long as the resultant base sequence can continuously maintain the promoter activity and the gene expression-controlling activity and can induce the specific expression of the desired DNA fragment only in the plant guard cells, but not in the mesophyll cells and the epidermal cells of the leaves of the transformed plant.
