Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of suppressing a liquid crystal alignment failure caused by a lateral electric field, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: An array substrate 10 of an H-line reverse driven liquid crystal device is provided with data lines 6 and scanning lines 3a crossing each other, and pixel electrodes 9a arranged at each intersection on the substrate. The adjoining pixel electrodes 9a across a scanning line 3 are impressed with image signal voltages of different polarities for a same frame period. The liquid crystal device has a spacer formed of a dielectric substance along the scanning line 3 between the adjoining pixel electrodes to be impressed with these image signals of different polarities, and this spacer suppresses generation of a lateral electric field arising between the adjoining pixel electrodes.
