Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the durability life of gas ring and prevent the cost increase due to the gas ring replacement and the lowering of efficiency of the furnace owing to the long stoppage time of the furnace. SOLUTION: The swirl flow plasma arc torch comprises a long and narrow electrode 8, a nozzle 10 and an electrode installation device 16. It further comprises a plurality of plasma gas inlet ports 50, which are provided for directing the plural plasma gas flow to the tangential direction of a ring 32, and all the gas inlet ports 50 are located near the rear end of the ring 32. As a result, the plasma gas coming from these ports goes along the ring 32 spirally and passes through the swirl flow chamber and flows to the outlet opening 14 of the nozzle.
