Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fucose sulfate-containing polysaccharide that is useful as an apoptosis inducer that can be used as a medicine, a carcinostatic agent and a carcinogenic prophylaxis and provide a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: This fucose sulfate-containing polysaccharide has the following physical and chemical properties: (1) the constituent sugar: includes uronic acid; (2) when this polysaccharide is degraded with the fucoidan-degrading enzyme produced by Flavobacterium sp. SA-0082 (FERM BP-5402), a compound represented by the formula exemplified in the following formula I is formed.
