PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet and the manufacturing method of the same, capable of provide an ink receptive coating layer having a uniform thickness even when the substrate of the recording sheet is provided with recesses and projections on the substrate of the same whereby solid printing variability or cracking is hardly generated, prominent in color development as well as ink absorbing property, capable of selecting the substrate having various kinds and purposes thereby having various recessed and projected patterns on the surface of the same, high in the mechanical strength and reduced in an environmental load without any problem of dioxine. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording sheet is manufactured by a method wherein the ink receptive coating layer, comprising the principal constituents of a white pigment and a binder resin while having a uniform thickness, is formed on a film having a smooth surface to provide with printing suitability, and, thereafter, the surface of the film, on which the ink receptive coating layer is not formed, is laminated on the surface of the substrate sheet through an adhesive layer.
