Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to manufacture a separator having a highly sulfonated level of poly-olefinic resin fiber to reduce self discharging, in which large facilities are not required in the factory with good productivity. SOLUTION: In the said method, sheet-like fabrics of poly-olefinic resin fiber are treated in a solution of sulfuric acid to manufacture a sulfonated separator for a battery. The concentration of sulfuric acid is 90 wt.% or more between 125-145 deg.C. The tension for the sheet-like fabrics in a solution of sulfuric acid is controlled in a range of 10-3,000 g/50 mm.
