Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium for ink jet printing which is excellent in ink absorbing property, high in the color development of an image without generating any variability of color even when two-directional printing is effected by a high resolution printer and capable of printing a high quality image. SOLUTION: The recording medium for ink jet printing is employed when two-directional printing is effected by employing a serial system printer, in which two kinds of ink having different colors are loaded on a carriage and the nozzle row of the ink is arranged in parallel to the principal scanning direction of a head. The recording medium is constituted of a substrate and an ink receptor layer, while the ink receptor layer is provided with the average ink absorbing capacity of 10-30 cc/cm2 and the contact angle of the uppermost surface layer of the ink receptor layer is formed so as to have 20-60 degree with respect to an ink having the surface tension of 25-72 dyn/cm.
