Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a floating head slider extremely excellent in the dust-proof characteristic. SOLUTION: On the base surface 3 of the floating head slider, a step surface 4 and a rail surface 5 are formed having the difference in level, respectively. These step surface 4 and the front side difference in level surfaces 6 and 7 of the rail surface 5 are formed in a shape curved along a nearly parabola toward both sides part from the central part, and the spacing of the inflow direction of the air flow of the step surface 4 and the rear side difference in level surfaces 8 and 9 of the rail surface 5 is formed 10 μm or less.
