Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video decoding and channel acquisition system. SOLUTION: A visual buffer MPEG decoder has a plurality of buffers (30, 50) that store coded video data denoting an image of respective video programs transmitted through a plurality of video channels, and the one buffer stores coded video data sufficiently to prevent an underflow state after switching to decode the program sent through the one video channel. The switching to decode a program sent through the selected one channel among a plurality of video channels is initiated depending on a channel selection input (70) by a user. The coded video data received one of a plurality of the buffers corresponding to the program sent through the selected video channel are decoded when the data are confirmed as a result of the switching initiated by a processor.
