Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foamed composite sheet having spindle-shaped cells which are oriented in its thickness direction, developing excellent compression strength, load resistance, bending strength or the like and excellent in surface smoothness with good productivity. SOLUTION: Sheetlike surface materials 2 having strength capable of suppressing the foaming force in the in-plane direction of a foamable sheet 1, which comprises a thermoplastic resin composition containing a thermally decomposable foaming agent, at a time of the heating of the foamable sheet 1 are laminated on both surfaces of the foamable sheet 1 and the formed laminate is held between two upper and lower continuous endless belts 7 and heated to temperature from the melting point of the thermoplastic resin to the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent under pressure to be fused and subsequently heated to higher temperature to foam the foamable sheet 1 and then cooled to temperature not higher than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin.
