Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin discriminating device, with which patterns or latent images on one of or both the obverse and reverse of a coin can be easily discriminated. SOLUTION: This device has a holding means 2 for holding a coin 1 so as to rotate is around the axial center thereof, a rotating means 3 for rotating the coin 1 held by this holding means by adding rotations around the axial center thereof, two radiating means 4 and 4 for irradiating both the surface and back faces of the coin 1 turned into rotating state by this rotating means 3 with light, and two sensors 5 and 6 for photodetecting light, with which both the surface and back faces of the coin 1 are irradiated.
