Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-sized oxide superconductor excellent in electric characteristics, magnetic properties, mechanical strengths and environmental resistance, and a method for producing such an oxide superconductor with good reproducibility and yield. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the oxide superconductor, Ag is added to the mixed raw materials which contain a RE compound, Ba compound and Cu compound, and the raw materials are melted, solidified and crystal-grown, Ag of 5-60% is added to the mixed raw materials with molar ratio of elements RE, Ba and Cu in the mixed raw materials, which is adjusted to the range of surrounded with A (0.17, 0.35, 0.48), B (0.22, 0.34, 0.44), C (0.23, 0.3, 0.47) and D (0.17, 0.32, 0.51).
