Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge dehydrating method for wastewater of pulp or papermaking industry excellent in flocculation/dehydration capacity and capable of affording a cake low in water content. SOLUTION: In a method for dehydrating sludge of pulp or papermaking industry, an amphoteric polymeric flocculant is added to sludge of pulp or papermkaing industry to dehydrate the sludge. The amphoteric polymeric flocculant comprises a copolymer containing a compound (1) represented by a quaternary salt of alkylaminoethyl methacrylate, a compound (2) represented by a quaternary salt of alkylaminoethyl acrylate, a compound (3) represented by (meth)acrylic acid and a compound (4) represented by (meth)acrylamide as constituent monomer units in a compositional molar ratio of (3)/[(1)+(2)]
