PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothbrush which has good cleaning effect to a dental plaque, which is difficult to remove, accumulated between teeth, in the boundary between the teeth and gums or the like, touches softly the gums and gives good feeling when using, has high durability of the bristles, and makes it pos sible to appropriately know when the toothbrush should be replaced. SOLUTION: The toothbrush is formed by planting bristles composed of a synthetic monofilament on a plating surface of a head part. The synthetic monofilament 1 is made to have a multi-layered construction having a filament section such as L0, L1 or the like, wherein the filament is tapered at the bristle tips. The synthetic monofilament 1 has the multi-layered construction composed of at least two layers having different colors and/or thickness of color. All or a part of the synthetic monofilament is composed of the synthetic monofilament 1.
