Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of economically and effectively treating malodorous gas under atmospheric temperature and pressure by catalytic adsorption and oxidation. SOLUTION: (a) The malodorous gas is brought into contact with washing gas containing catalyst for catalytically adsorbing a malodorous compound, and (b) catalytic oxidation is executed by allowing the resulting solution containing the malodorous compound to contact an oxidizing agent in the presence of the catalyst under atmospheric pressure and at 0-100 deg.C. The catalyst contains an active metallic element selected from alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and transition metal, and an optional oxide supporting material.
