SOLUTION: This activated carbon fiber having large pore diameters and the large pore volume is the one obtained by using a metal-containing pitch, and characterized on that the specific surface area is within the range of 700-2,000 m2/g and (x) (m2/g) of the specific surface area shown in the horizontal axis, and (y) (ml/b) of the pore volume shown in the vertical axis satisfy the following relation: y>=-a+bx+cx2 (wherein, (a) is 0.3177; (b) is 9.68×10-4; and (c) is 2.49×10-8).
