Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control circuit detecting a short circuit or an overcurrent condition and, in response to it, cutting off output current from a system power supply and a method thereof. SOLUTION: This control circuit 10, with an output transistor Q1 connected between the power supply and a load apparatus 22, controls current supplied to the load apparatus or, under a short circuit or an overcurrent condition, cuts off current supply. The output transistor is controlled by a free drive transistor Q3 combined with a resistor, that is, the Q3 provides a control signal for the Q1 to control output current level supplied to the load apparatus. The control signal, in relation to the output of an operational amplifier U1, compares the output voltage with a prescribed reference voltage. In case of a short circuit or an overcurrent condition, a switch network turns off the Q3 and then the Q1. The Q1 cuts off the output current from the system power supply, thereby protecting the system power supply from being damaged.
