Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily producing polymer fine powder in a high yield by a few processes and to obtain both high-quality polymer fine powder suitably useful as a material such as coating material, ink, adhesive, molding product, cosmetic base, medical supply, etc., and a composition for a coating material capable of obtaining an excellent coating film. SOLUTION: This method for producing polymer fine powder is characterized in that a monomer composition comprising a carboxyl group-containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer is polymerized in supercritical carbon dioxide to give the polymer fine powder. This polymer fine powder having 1,000-1,000,000 weight-average molecular weight and 0.1-50 μm average particle diameter of particle is obtained by the method. This coating material composition comprises the polymer fine powder.
