TRAFFIC SHAPING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic shaping device which can prevent the sequence of output cells from reversing within the same connection and during a shaping operation and also can quickly change the shaping parameter. SOLUTION: A shaping arithmetic part 5 calculates an ideal sending time of an arriving cell in an ATM device according to a prescribed parameter and a prescribed algorithm, and an input/output cell control part 8 carries out its operation in response to the arithmetic result of the part 5. In such a constitution, the shaping arithmetic results are compared with each other in the arriving order of them about the cells included in the same connection. When the ideal sending time of shaping of a cell that arrived later is earlier than that of a cell that arrived earlier, a sending time control part 10 changes the former sending time into a time later than the latter sending time. Thus, the part 8 outputs the cells according to the changing result of the part 10.
