PREPARATION PROCESS OF LIQUID CRYSTAL POLYESTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and economically obtain a liquid crystal polyester, especially an all-aromatic, liquid crystal polyester within a short time. SOLUTION: A preparation process of a liquid crystal polyester comprises a prepreg polymerization step wherein a prepolymer of a liquid crystal polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, and aromatic diol and/or an aromatic hydroxyamine, wherein the number of the aromatic ring terminal groups satisfies formula (i): (the number of aromatic ring terminal groups)/[(the number of hydroxy terminal group) + (the number of aromatic ring terminal groups)] ×100>=7%, is polymerized, and a solid phase polymerization step for increasing the polymerization degree of the obtained prepolymer.
