METHOD AND TOOL FOR SEPARATING FIBER CORD FROM OPTICAL FIBER RIBBON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a collective coating in the terminal of an optical fiber ribbon without damaging internal fiber cords to form a long fiber cord separation part. SOLUTION: A collective coating 4 in the terminal of an optical fiber ribbon 5 is eliminated to expose the whole or a part of fiber cords 3 arranged at least in the intermediate position and then an exposed part is formed, or the collective coating 4 is left as is, and the whole or a part of fiber cords 3 arranged in the intermediate position is divided from the other fiber cords 3 and are opened like a V-shape in the perpendicular direction of the tape conductor 5, and a tearing member 6 is inserted between divided fiber cords 3 and the other fiber cords from a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the optical fiber ribbon, and the optical fiber ribbon 5 is pushed against the tearing member 6 toward the terminal direction or the optical fiber ribbon 5 is pulled from the terminal side to advance not only V-shaped separation in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber ribbon 5 but also tearing in the lengthwise direction of the collective coating, and thereafter, the collective coating stuck to separated parts of fiber cords is eliminated.
