Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a thick coated part front and behind a joint part of a web without lowering the productivity and to shorten an uncoated part as much as possible. SOLUTION: The coating liquid in a liquid feed pipe 26 is sucked by increasing the capacity of an expansible vessel 36 before the coating operation is ended by lowering a wire bar 12 in this side of the joint part 10A to be made away from the web 10. That is, the wire bar 12 is descended in a state that liquid level in a liquid reservoir 14 descends. Then the coating quantity becomes equal to that of a part where the coating is finished and the occurrence of the partial thick coated part is prevented. After the joint part 10A passes, the coating liquid is discharged to the liquid feed pipe 26 by shrinking the volume of the expansible vessel 36 before the wire bar 12 is brought into contact with the web 10 to start the coating operation. As a result, the wire bar 12 is ascended in a state that the liquid level of the liquid reservoir 14 ascends. Then the coating quantity becomes almost equal to that of a part where the coating is finished and the occurrence of the partial thick coated part is prevented.
