LADDER LOADING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit safe travel by positively locking a ladder holding member into a holding position in a ladder loading device a vehicle for elevating the ladder holding member along a rail of a roof rack. SOLUTION: Chain 3 is put on front and rear portal guide rails 1 on a roof rock 2, and holding member 4 is connected to the chain and pulled around by a motor 5. Both front and rear sides of a ladder are held to the holding members 4. When the holding members 4 come into the upper holding position of the roof rack 2, engaging parts 18 are engaged with catches 22. A lock fitting of each catch 22 is rotated into a lock position when engaged with the engaging part 18, and restricted into the lock position by the action of a locking driving device through a latch fitting. Each holding member 4 is locked into the holding position and hindered unexpected movement caused by impact, to permit safe travel. The latch fitting is rotated in the opposite direction by the action of the locking driving device to release the lock fitting and to release the lock of each catch 22 at the same time.
