Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web connecting device capable of surely and easily controlling the movement of a supporting member on which a new web is mounted, when a used web and the new web are connected. SOLUTION: A pair of endless chains 18, 18 are hung on a supporting member 24 when an end of an used web W1 unwound from an unwinder 12 and a beginning of a new web W2 are connected by means of a pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tape 26, and the beginning of the web W2 is attached to the supporting member 24. A position of the supporting member 24 is determined by an encoder 44 detecting the number of rotations of a driving sprocket 20 capable of driving the pair of endless chains 18, 18 to connect both webs.
