Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stereoscopic image display device by which a viewer can view an excellent stereoscopic image even when the viewer moves to some degree in the case of viewing the stereoscopic image without using eyeglasses. SOLUTION: A mask pattern 7 where a plurality of apertures 6 each arranged with a transparent part and a non-transparent part repetitively in the horizontal direction and a plurality of light shielding sections each comprising only a non-transparent part are arranged at a prescribed pitch in the horizontal direction and a vertical direction is formed on a display face of an optical modulator having a discrete pixel structure, a luminous flux from a light source means is emitted to the optical modulator to obtain a patternized luminous flux, the patternized luminous flux passes through an optical system including lenticular lenses 2, 3 to light a display device 1 on which at least two or more parallax images are displayed, the luminous flux on the basis of at least the two or more parallax images displayed on the display device 1 is led to a right eye and a left eye of the viewer. Thus, the viewer can stereoscopically view the image information displayed on the display device 1.
