Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for directly synthesizing a methylchlorosilane in improved productivity, while maintaining the good selectivity of dimethyldichlorosilane. SOLUTION: This continuous method for directly synthesizing a methylchlorosilane comprises reacting a chloromethane with silicon in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising a zinc auxiliary catalyst and a copper catalyst selected from (a) a copper oxide, (b) a mixture of at least 80 wt.% of a copper oxide with copper (I) chloride, (c) copper (I) chloride, and (d) a mixture of at least 80 wt.% of copper (I) chloride with a copper oxide. Therein, the copper catalysts (a), (b), (c) and (d) are used, while alternating from the copper catalysts (a) or (b) to (c) or (d), or from the copper catalysts (c) or (d) to (a) or (b).
