HYPOTENSIVE AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hypotensive agent that has the hypotensive action and is particularly useful as an antihypertensive drug for the hypertensive patients with high concentration of catecholamine in blood by using a specific S-adenosyl- L-methionine derivative as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The objective hypotensive agent includes, as an active ingredient, S-adenosyl-L-methionine derivative represented by the formula [R is a (substituted) 5'-deoxyadenosxn-5'-yl; n is 1-6] or the pharmacologically acceptable salts. This compound can be used directly, as it is, or in the forms of a variety of pharmaceutical preparations. When it is used in oral preparation compositions, a proper pharmacologically acceptable carrier may be used. In a preparation suitable for parenteral administration, it preferably comprises a sterilized water-based preparation including the active compound that is adjusted the surface tension to that equal to the blood of the patient. This compound can be orally or parenterally as an injection solution or the like in the pharmaceutical preparation and the effective dose and the administration time is properly 60-1,200 mg/60 kg body weight/day.
