Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing chloromethylstyrenes by which the highly pure chloromethylstyrenes are produced in high yield by an easily operable liquid phase method. SOLUTION: This method for producing chloromethylstyrenes comprises adding hydrogen chloride to methylstyrenes to provide α-chloroethyltoluenes, chlorinating the methyl groups of the obtained α-chloroethyltoluenes to provide α-chloroethylbenzyl chlorides, and dehydrochlorinating the obtained α- chloroethylbenzyl chlorides to provide the objective chloromethylstyrenes.
