OPERATION OF CONTINUOUS CASTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity and the product yield by accurately calculating the casting completing position of the last cast slab. SOLUTION: In the operation of a continuous casting, the casting completing timing of the last cast slab is calculated and decided so that the remaining steel wt. in a tundish becomes close to a target value with a process computer 9 by measuring the remaining steel wt. in the tundish with a wt. meter 8 and the drawing-out length of the cast slab in each strand with a measuring roll 7 while satisfying the indicated operational condition.
