Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption and to extend the service life of a battery by inhibiting MAHO control required for hand-over or prolonging the interval of the execution of the control when the reception level of a base station under connection is excellent in a CDMA system. SOLUTION: A reception signal from the base station under connection is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 30, inputted to RAKE receiving part 32 for a prescribed processing, outputted as a voice signal and inputted to a search receiving part 34. The relation of diffusion code intrinsic to a peripheral base station, which is previously reported from the base station, is inspected so that the reception quality of the peripheral base station is measured and data is transmitted to a control part 36. When the reception quality of the base station under connection is >= a previously set threshold, the control part 36 prohibits a mobile assist hand-over (MAHO) operation for measuring the reception level from an adjacent base station. In the meantime, when reception quality is lower than the threshold, the propriety of hand-over is judged. Thus, the MAHO operation is reduced and power with the operation is reduced.
