Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always and precisely detect the lateral direction position of a vehicle even if the characteristic of a magnetic marker generation magnetic field changes in terms of time and position by deciding the lateral direction position in the road of a vehicle by means of considering correction information corresponding to a characteristic that the generation magnetic field of a magnetic marker installed on the road changes. SOLUTION: Respective detection signals from a magnetic sensor 12 and a temperature sensor 14 are supplied to a control unit ECU 10. Reference characteristic information showing the characteristic of the generation magnetic field of a magnetic marker, a reference map showing the magnetic flux density distribution of the magnetic field generated from the magnetic marker, for example, is stored in a memory unit 25. A correction coefficient k(T) map based on the temperature dependency of magnetic flux density distribution is stored in the memory unit 25. When a detection temperature is obtained, a correction coefficient k(T) corresponding to the detection temperature T is decided from the correction coefficient k(T). The lateral direction position on the road of the vehicle is operated based on the correction coefficient k(T).
