PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To half-automatically wash laundry, discharge water, rinse it, and spin it dry by a single tub type washing machine by closing a discharge groove in an outer tub and braking a washing and spinning tub so as to wash it in a selection mode and by opening the discharge port in the outer tub and releasing the braking of the wash and spinning tub so as to spin the laundry in discharge mode. SOLUTION: In washing, a mode selection knob 41 is set on a cleaning mode side, water is fed to an outer tub 22, and at the same time laundry and detergent are put in a washing and spinning tub 23. When a washing time and a washing water flow selection knobs 51, 57 are operated, a power supply is fed to a motor 25 to wash the laundry. When the mode selection knob 41 is set to the discharge mode side in spinning, a cam is interlocked therewith to be fixed to a fixed bar, a hood latch cable 93 holds a brake lever 170 in the pulling state, the brake of the washing and spinning tank 23 is released, a discharge valve 30 connected to the brake lever 170 releases the discharge port 29. Then, when the spinning time selection knob 81 is operated, a power supply is fed to the motor to spin the laundry.
