PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve throughput by devising shading operation when reading an image with a sheet through system. SOLUTION: An operation parameter required for shading operation or reading operation is set (S901), and shading operation is performed (S902). After shading operation, reading operation is started (S903) and the end of reading is waited (S904). After the end of reading (S905), shading operation is performed (S906). When shading operation is finished (S907) and the next reading is prepared (S908), an operation parameter is set (S909), reading operation is started (S910) and the end of reading is waited (8911). After the end of reading (S912), shading operation is performed (S913). Thus, throughput in continuous reading of plural images is improved.
