DAMPING STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the absorption of vibration in addition to the effect of a brace with a simple structure by using a vibration absorber formed by filling a viscoelastic body between members as the brace. SOLUTION: A vibration absorber 10A is used as the brace of a rectangular structure formed of columns 20 and beams 30. For example, vibration absorber members 1, 2 are fixed through projection members 9 from the intersection in the rectangular structure consisting of a pair of columns 20 and beams 30 fixed thereof with a proper space. In the vibration absorber 10A, a viscoelastic body M is charged between the members 1, 2 in a proper thickness and sealed through a side plate. The viscoelastic body M is not necessarily sealed through the side plate. When a vibration is given horizontally, the vibration absorber 10A vibrates as it deflects as shown by the broken line, and its vibration waveform appears. When a vibration absorber 10 having no viscoelastic body M charged therein is used, it takes a long time to decline the vibrating waves, and in case of the vibration absorber 10A having the viscoelastic body M charged therein, the vibrating waves are converged in a short time.
