PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve retrieval efficiency of information by distributing index information with identification information resulting from adding identification information to index information of distributed information as index information of the information distributed again having the same contents as those of the distributed information and retrieving as required the information re-distributed having the same contents as those of desired information among a plurality of information sets. SOLUTION: A VBI slicer extracts EPG data S16 from a video signal S15, which are transferred to and stored in a RAM 13 via a bus BUS. A recording media section 20 reads multiplexed data S25 of a designated program among multiplexed data of a plurality of programs recorded in a built-in recording medium and gives the multiplexed data S25 to a multiplexer/demultiplexer section 18. The multiplexer/demultiplexer section 18 demultiplexes the multiplexed data S25 into audio coded data S26 and video coded data S27. A CPU 11 retrieves a program with the same program title as that indicated from a reserved program among a huge number of programs included in EPG data S16 stored in the RAM 13.
