PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic backhoe realizing rear small swing motion while maintaining a large space around a driver's feet. SOLUTION: This rear small swing type hydraulic backhoe is provided with a lower running body 2; an upper running body 1 swingably mounted on the lower running body 2; a working device 5 fitted in front of the upper revolving structure 1; and a cover 3 disposed at the upper part of the upper revolving structure 1. In this case, the cross direction dimension of the upper revolving structure 1 is se to be not more than 2.5 times as large as the cross direction dimension of a driver's seat 7 provided on the cover 3, and lateral operating levers 25, 26 for operating the working device 5 are projected upward from the upper front parts of lateral covers 23, 24 provided on both sides of the driver's seat 7.
